Welcome to the 2012 – 2013 School Year! I am pleased and honored to return for another year at Steck. The level of professionalism and dedication to children’s learning at Steck exceeds any experience I have had in my 37 years as a public educator. Pam Kirk, who has previously taught at Steck, and has served the last few years as an Assistant Principal in DPS, will join our team. Together, our goal is to provide a stable and productive school year for all. There are many exciting things to share with you including information about new staff members and our school-wide focus on learning and implementing the new Common Core State Standards. We will also continue to emphasize a healthy climate and culture through morning meetings and attention to common area behaviors and norms. Both topics will be addressed in more detail at Back-to-School nights.

Monday, August 27 – First Day of School – Grades 1-5
Tuesday, August 28 – First full day of ECE
Wednesday, August 29 – First full day of Kindergarten (Coffee and Cry – 8:15 am.)
Wednesday, September 12 – Primary (K-2) Back to School Night – 6-7:30 pm.
Thursday, September 13 – Intermediate (3-5) Back to School Night – 6-7:30 pm.
Please continue to utilize our website for general and updated information. It is a priority to communicate with our community regularly and clearly, primarily through the use of the website. The site contains important information and dates to organize your calendars for the school of the year. The web site makes it easy to sign up for our e-newsletters and e-blasts if you didn’t do that at registration. As a reminder, we do not send home paper copy communications. By sending information electronically, we save over three thousand copies each week! Please let Imani or Jill in our main office know if you are not receiving updates electronically.
